Chateau des Singes

An abandoned Neo-Baroque style chateau somewhere in France.

Built in the 17th century.

Every room had a big window on every side of the wall, so it had the most natural light during the day. Truly amazing.

The chateau got the nickname 'Singes' because of the murals of monkeys that were in the grand room on the ground floor.

The last owner refused assistance in renovating the chateau because the costs were to much.
So he continued to live in a small restored part of the chateau and lived in a small room and a few portable heaters.

In 2012 he became ill and went to a nursing home.
Since then, the chateau was left in decay.

By the time I visited, the chateau was completely empty and very dark.
All the walls were painted, so no more monkey murals...

Unfortunately the place was to known on social media and people took advantage by giving away the adres while for some it was for other purposes instead of filming or photography.
